MANY SURVIVE RIVER BOAT CAPSIZE
Other , Brief

At least 85 of 135 passengers survived after a boat capsized on the Kasai River in the Maluku district, not far from Kinshasa. Richard Ndambu, Governor of the Bandundu province, where most of the passengers were travelling from, told Radio Okapi that around five bodies were recuperated from the river and that the search continues for another 40 missing. Officials from Bandundu yesterday had reported the possible death of 140 passengers in the incident, quoted widely by the international media.
