Bolivian president Evo Morales condemned Europe's new immigration law, adding to harsh criticism after the European Parliament passed a controversial repatriation directive. “I ask European presidents and the parliament not to carry out an attack against humanity and life. What you are doing is extremely serious,” he declared yesterday, adding that "Bolivia never expelled anyone in 500 years." Morales also called Africa and Latin America to mobilisation in a major international campaign against the directive. According to Bolivia's president, the next Latin American MERCOSUR summit on southern markets – scheduled for July 1 – should serve as the campaign's first arena. TC [CO]
